Kai Young Pak

An integration engineer and IT Consultant from Portland, Oregon. I'm a tinkerer at heart and have a passion for all things science and technology.

Adaptive IT professional experienced and knowledgeable in large, complex environments that encompass a multitude of technologies including OSes, middleware, applications, architecture design, networking, and development.  Flourishes in fast-paced environments and quickly able to adapt to rapidly changing business needs.  Well-regarded for ability to digest and quickly assimilate copious amounts of technical literature and ideas  I enjoy complex projects and look forward to learning about exciting new technologies out on the horizon.     I currently specialize in UNIX/Linux system administration, backup and recovery architecture and server virtualization.  Although I don't get to do it much with my current position anymore, I really enjoy programming/coding/hacking (hacking in the oldschool 50s-70s sense, not the blackhat understanding of it).   I also happen to be a bit of a physics/science geek and am currently pursuing a BS degree in physics at Portland State University.  Hopefully, someday, I'll get to mesh my interests in technology and physics together and do something with computational physics.   -Kai Young Pak

Kai Young Pak's Interests & Activities

Besides my penchant for all things science and tech, I also enjoy a lot of non-geeky activities. I love to travel and go on adventures to strange, new places (high preference for beaches). I'm also an avid runner training for my first marathon in 2013. It's something of a form of mediation for me to shut off my brain for a while and blast music on my iDevice while running along the many beautiful trails in Portland, Oregon. I really enjoy reading although given my current schedule, it's tough to read outside of assigned stuff from work and school; but I try to squeeze in what I can. I'm also an avid gamer and science fiction reader/movie watcher (fine, those last things were geeky ;)).
